Overview

This gathering celebrates the rich and diverse brilliance of each of us individually and collectively. Our innate wisdom, care, and strength shine into every encounter we have.

However, as Black, Indigenous, People of Color in the US, each of us experiences constricting and oppressing forces of race in situations and relationships every day. We feel our small and large “stuck” places, both personally and in our current and past generations of social bodies—the collective bodies we call our families, teams at work, institutions, and communities.

Social Presencing Theater (SPT) is a series of embodiment practices inviting us into a spacious inquiry. By attending to the feeling of “stuck,” without judgments or opinions, we can move from “stuck” toward creative possibilities. Some practices are done individually and some in small teams, but each is an invitation to trust in body-knowing and the body’s natural yearning for freedom and health.

These practices are a gateway into conversations around race and equity. They build capacity for seeing and sensing into the larger systems in which we all live. They celebrate awareness as a key factor in supporting positive social change. They cultivate the natural curiosity, compassion, and courage needed as we engage in creating systems of equity and care.

We invite participants of color in North America to join us, and the focus of conversation will be on racial experience in the US.
