An exploration for BIPOC Folks
At a Glance
This gathering celebrates resilience while also acknowledging that systems of oppression create an undue burden of stress for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC). About the program
Social Presencing Theater (SPT) is a series of embodiment practices inviting us into a spacious inquiry. Participants will be invited to use the practices to get curious about how best to refuel, how to access joy, and how to cultivate feeling resourced while navigating the challenges of being BIPOC in America..
Some practices are done individually and some in small groups, but each is an invitation to trust in body-knowing and the body’s natural yearning for freedom and health. There will be opportunities to attend to the feeling of “stuck,” without judgments or opinions, we can move from “stuck” toward creative possibilities. Participants will leave with prototypes to support their own well-being and that of the communities in which they live.
We’ll explore how Social Presencing Theater and other capacity-building awareness practices can expand the way we see and sense into the larger systems in which we all live. The practices celebrate awareness as a key factor in supporting positive social change.
We invite participants of color in North America to join us, and the focus of conversation will be on racial experience in the US.
This course is a SPT Basic course for those who are interested in further training or in the Presencing Institute certification process.
