In this virtual hub we are exploring the principles of spiritual ecology and what they could mean in practice. The field of spiritual ecology focuses on our relationship to Earth, links ecological sustainability with an awareness of the sacred interconnectedness of all of life, and calls for responses to environmental issues that include spiritual awareness and practice. The principles of spiritual ecology are simple: In order to resolve environmental issues like depletion of species, global warming, and over-consumption, we need to examine and reassess our underlying attitudes and beliefs about the earth, and our spiritual as well as physical responsibilities towards the planet. We're looking at the role of grief in shifting us from ego- to eco awareness; the disconnect between self and nature and how this reflects our forgetfulness of what indigenous peoples have always known - that Earth and all of life is sacred, one interconnected web of which we are a part, and how we can return this awareness not only to our personal lives but to our public dialogue. Anyone interested in these questions is most welcome to join the conversation.
