While this – the fourth – issue of the journal carries discussion threads from previous issues in the movement from transactional to relational, from duality to complementarity, this issue finds itself most drawn not to an exact destination but rather to an exploration of the space in-between: the messy and potentially generative process of transition. The collated papers in this issue delve into theoretical and practical approaches, working with the in-between to support a shift toward collective awareness and co-creative responses.

• Thomas Hübl and Lori Shridhare vividly explore the holding of individual and collective trauma, aiming to move beyond trauma-informed toward trauma-integrated interventions.
  
  
• Rachel Lilley, Gerald Midgley, and Mark Whithead document their shared learning, which spans over a decade, in trying to meaningfully address limitations of existing governance systems.
  
  
• Victor Udoewa proposes the meta-methodological approach of Radical Participatory Design, framing design as participatory to its core.
  
  
• John Davis–Cobble Cobble, and Rhonda Coopes–palawa, invite you into an experience of Indigenous Knowledge creation through the practice of Circle Work.
  
  
• Glen Cousquer extends awareness-based systems change practice into the domain of inter-species solidarity and cooperation in his work on equine welfare practices.
  
  
• Norma Romm reviews Hilary Bradbury`s new book How to Do Action Research for Transformations at a Time of Eco-Social Crisis (Bradbury, 2022), offering an account that is both resonant and challenging.
  
  
• This issue’s In-the-Making features Stacy Guenther’s phenomenological inquiry into the interpersonal and intersubjective phenomenon of group coherence. In her Discussant Commentary, Jessica Bockler deepens and expands upon Guenther’s work on the nature and potential of group coherence to address our global meta-crises.
  
  
• The issue closes with the In Dialogue feature, in which Sohail Inayatullah and Otto Scharmer reunite after 30 years along with Emma D. Paine in a multi-generational conversation that spans from patterns of microhistory, to collective depression and agency, to the role of futuring and higher education in societal transformation. 

The aim of the journal is to provide a platform for all those working to grow and evolve the field of awareness-based systems change through theoretical, methodological, and practice innovation. To this end, we include a number of formats, aiming to honour the rigour, care, and consideration characteristic of academic publishing while also creating a space for the new, the remembered, and the emerging in knowledge creation.
